Following are the key components of financial management:
General Ledger: General Ledger contains
the central granules in Navision, which are totally integrated with all other
granules. All general ledger debits and credits are recorded here and there are
many facilities for both internal and external analysis. You can produce
financial statements - profit/loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
Dimensions: Dimensions
functionality adds a great deal of analysis capabilities to Navision. There can
be an unlimited number of company-defined dimensions and dimension values. A
range of new functionality sorts dimensions.
Budgets: The matrix windows can be
budgeted by selecting between combinations of G/L account, period and four
dimensions. The budgets can be copied from the previous periods and can revise
the budget figures using adjustment factors. Unlimited number of dimensions can
be attached to the budget entry. Import and export of the budgets can be done
from and to the Excel. One of the most important features is that the budgeted
and the actual amounts can be compared per dimensions, G/L account and period
on the Analysis by Dimension form.
Sales & Receivables: The
integrated structure of Navision transforms accounts receivable into customer
management with the ability to automate every aspect of your customer
relationships. The Sales & Receivables areas have facilities for complete
customer and sales management, even in an international environment. Sales
& Receivables also provide customer ageing, sales statistics and other
summary or detailed reporting on customers.
Purchases & Payables: To take
advantage of potential supplier discounts and to avoid paying invoices too
early or too late, you need accounts payable functionality that gives you a
complete overview of your business as well as direct access to detailed
transactions. Navision provides all these capabilities and more in the
Purchases & Payables areas. Purchases & Payables also offer efficient
features for managing payments to suppliers and for re-ordering. Purchases
& Payables are fully integrated with the General Ledger and Inventory
granules and can use the department, project and inventory location dimensions.
Fixed Assets: Navision has a fully
integrated Fixed Assets functional area. Fixed assets are a valuable part of
any company. However, managing them effectively can easily tie up considerable
resources. This is why the Fixed Assets functional area provides essential
functions to help you manage fixed assets quickly and with a minimum of effort.
For example, you can keep track of all information relevant to fixed assets,
such as maintenance costs, acquisition costs and insurance policies. In
addition, the real-time nature of Fixed Asset facilities means that your
periodic income and expense figures are always accurate and up-to-date.

Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision was one of the first ERP
softwares to provide an in built OLAP capability. Dimensions and Advanced
Dimensions granules enable us create multi-dimensional information cubes and
view the enterprise information in various ways. Every time a transaction is
posted-anywhere within the system-all customer, vendor, account, and item
totals are given in real time. You can zero in on details by filtering
information (for example, by date, account, or item number), report and analyze
based on an unlimited number of criteria, and always rely on the accuracy of
the information. Navision has further strengthened this capability by adding
the Business Analytics granule. This has brought Navision's analytic
capabilities closer to the BI solutions.

Navision:
Commerce Portal: In 1999, Navision

awards as an innovative B2C solution and continues to be the top rated
technology for integrated sales and customer self-service on the Internet.
Tightly integrated with Navision Software back-office applications, it
automatically displays current prices and availability, and because Web Shop
uses the business logic in Navision, it manages all order activity without
manual oversight or data entry.
Commerce Gateway: Businesses need a
simple, cost-effective way of exchanging electronic data and trading documents.
Commerce Gateway uses Microsoft's BizTalk and introduces new document and
transaction exchange standards based on the use of extensible markup language
(XML). Commerce Gateway also simplifies collaboration between Navision-based
systems and other business management applications. Subsequent releases of
Commerce Gateway will support electronic collaboration with Web-based trading
