In the past couple of years, Artificial Intelligence has become the most talked about technology and is now considered as the future of machine learning. From mobile phones to house appliances AI is everywhere and is extensively used by big technology companies. However, there is no doubt that artificial intelligence is a great technology when it comes to integration with ERP softwares and its technological capabilities.

How will Artificial Intelligence transform the future of ERP solutions?

Artificial intelligence is the technology of the future and will play an important role in influencing the future of Enterprise Resource Planning systems and will help in increasing the overall efficiency of the businesses, regardless of size or industry, but in order to adapt with these new technological changes organizations need to change their current system.

If the technology is used effectively, AI will improve the internal management structure by using intelligent software applications and will help in creating a smarter technology infrastructure thus, optimizing organization’s business processes.

But in order to adapt and accommodate to the new technology, organizations should be more flexible and prepared to review and change their current IT strategies.

An ERP system integrated with Artificial Intelligence will improve the efficiency of daily operations. The technology will replace routine tasks currently performed by humans. Therefore, adapting to the technology will help companies to reduce their operational costs thus enhancing the efficiency of the organization as a whole.

Ways by which Artificial Intelligence will improve the efficiency of ERP

Automation of data

AI will eliminate the need for manual entry of data into the ERP system which is considered a heavy workload and increases operating costs. In addition to this, typical errors made by humans can also get eliminated as machines are more accurate than humans. AI integrated with ERP can learn from data sources and create workflows and reduces the time taken to load the data. For Example: Amazon has developed workflows in which photos of new objects snapped from different angles are fed into machine learning software (ERP) so a robot can figure out how to grab something it had never seen half an hour previously.

Improves decision-making process

An ERP system is used and is capable of helping businesses to improve and streamline their workflow and to make better decisions about everything from products to strategy. Al helps in improving these capabilities of ERP by analyzing larger datasets. In addition to this, AI can also be used to read historical data and learn from earlier behavioral patterns.

Workflow Enhancement
As discussed above, by analyzing historical data, the systems will be able to suggest the most effective internal work processes. For example: By reading and analyzing an already established workflow, AI will be able to perform the next task and will provide the necessary information to complete the task. This will help in streamlining the workflow and optimize the work processes.

Microsoft Cognitive Services

Microsoft’s Project Oxford is now called Cognitive Services. However, Microsoft has added some new features and functionalities. Cognitive Services now consists of a number of intelligent API’s (Application Programming Interface). An API is a software interface which allows a piece of software to interact with other software. These API’s work across the platform and deliver intelligent data through face recognition, voice recognition, and video stabilization etc.

Artificial Intelligence in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018

Recently Microsoft has announced that the new NAV 2018 includes artificial intelligence technology. AI through Cognitive Services has become the part of NAV 2018. Therefore, NAV 2018 has functionalities like auto-recognition of images, such as an item, or, in HR context, an employee in a company.
